Stairway to Heaven: Kew Tree Top Walkway

Kew Gardens, properly known as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, is a 300 acre garden, a World Heritage Site and the (newly voted) best public garden in Britain. With 1.4 million visitors a year, they have to keep introducing new attractions as well as maintain their reputation as a national centre for botanical research and training. The Gardens hold examples of three quarters of the country's endangered plant species as well as being a stunning place to wander.

Trees that Rotate by Themselves

Rotating Trees

You’d be forgiven in thinking that these trees have been pummeled and almost uprooted as hurricane season is upon us but, believe it or not, they’re actually meant to look like that; reports Deputy Dog.

Created by the same guys who brought us the Blur Building, Diller, Scofidio and Renfro, the trees form part of an installation entitled ‘Arbores Laetae’, or Joyful Trees and count as one of 30 installations in this year’s biennial arts festival in Liverpool, UK.

Cutting Your Paper Footprint

Cutting your carbon footprint is one thing, but cutting your paper footprint is a whole other game. As a vivid demonstration of how much paper we use, Mandy Haggith collected and displayed the 250kg of paper that the people in her small Scottish town had thrown away over the past year. In response to this paper mountain, a series of recycling initiatives were started in the town involving students, shop keepers and residents.
