Unpackaged is a small, charming shop that sells affordable organic and fair trade dry foods--unpackaged. You bring your own container or buy a reusable one. It sounds like old news to North Americans, but here in the UK it is unique. The owner, Catherine Conway, is very serious about her business and has made great efforts to push the envelope, using a low carbon delivery service, publishing a newsy and informative monthly newsletter, and becoming a community resource for the area.

While some important political, racial, and environmental red tape may have been broken in this election, this latest battle between red and blue was anything but green when it comes to the waste created by campaign entourages swinging through up to 7 states in one day.
It's London's only thatched roof, and it is on a reproduction of London's oldest theatre: the Globe which dates back to Shakespearian times. The open-air theatre is based on the descriptions of the original design from 1559 where Shakespeare worked and presented his plays. The reproduction was built in 1996, funded by Sam Wanamaker, who dedicated 20 years to its creation.

It's not hard to see the increased appeal of vintage and clothing swaps in a (necessarily?) contracting economy. Some of us have been second-hand thrift shoppers before it was cool, though, because we were economically-challenged and/or liked the thrill of the free find.
