Emerald Island: Eco-Themed Gaming for Kids

emerald-island-game.jpg

Teaching kids about the environment through game-play is nothing new, but in today's online gamer society, it's important to put the lesson-learning in the right format. Gamer kids now have something to play that makes sense both on and off the computer screen.

Ranking The 3 Rs

ranking order of 3rs image high moon

I liked this cartoon by High Moon over at Japan for Sustainability. I never thought about it quite this way before. Ranking the 3 Rs in order of importance, they give Reduce the first place, followed by Reuse and a third place for Recycle. Or should they all rank the same?

JFS also has a cute website for kids, called Create Your Future. Do have a look!...

Climate Change? This Looks Like a Job for Captain Ozone, Environmental Hero

captain ozone changing climate environmental hero photo

Calling Captain Ozone
Perhaps what the modern environmental movement needs is more masked, spandex clad superheroes who make public appearances perched atop latrines lashed to the roofs of cars. Or who chop through Petrol signs with hemp oil powered chainsaws. These are merely a couple of the (semi) heroic deeds done by the enigma of environmental activism that is Captain Ozone....

But if affluence is flow, then do those of us lucky enough to have been born into great (relative) wealth have a responsibility to keep the waters moving, to sustain (our word from last month) the flow? Or is it our right to dam it up and stop it, thinking we can keep all the goodies for ourselves?"
