ode chair

ODEChair by Jolyon Yates.
“An ODE is a lyrical poem that pays respect to that which inspired it. The subject of that respect is those who have lent thoughts, inspiration or kindness in the development of these pieces; friends and family, mother nature; the Atlantic Ocean; Northumberland; New Zealand; the rain. Specifically, this ODE is to those that we meet and learn from on our journeys. In a world of loveless volume manufacturing, ODEChairs display soul by reflecting the care and honesty with which they have been conceived and crafted”.

henrybuilt for the whole home

henrybuilt, a Seattle-based manufacturer of modern kitchen systems and storage solutions, has recently launched their “whole house” line and opened their new flagship showroom in Seattle. Often compared in the press to Bulthaup and Boffi, they have quickly risen in status for the beauty and quality of their product. I’m only posting one picture, because there are just too many to choose from. Everything they make is just gorgeous.

håg balans task chair

I know we’ve all seen funky chairs like this, either at the “back store” or “ergo chairs R us”, but the truth is its a legitimate concept and Norwegien seating company HÅG really has the best task chair version of this seating configuration. The idea is that this chair forces you into a posture where your spine is straight approximating a standing position, hence removing strain and pinching of tissues associated with back pains.

permanent camping, casey brown architecture

Permanent Camping is a 3×3x6m ‘tower’ in the bush near Mudgee in New South Wales, Australia. It is clad in corrugated copper for protection against brush fires and harsh weather, with three folding sides (for shade and security), a sleeping loft and kitchen, and nearby is a copper-clad outhouse. Dig that water tank for rainwater runoff.

delete table | martin sprouse

A mistaken cut on a model led to deleting sections of these generic square tables, giving them unique but related identities. This concept was enhanced with two distinct material applications: a Corian spine, which provides the table’s structure and creates storage for magazines, as well as a solid walnut skin.
