Carbon Footprint Labeling - Pilot Program Launches in Japan

While the carbon footprint calculation system is still in the development phase, corporations are voluntarily committing their participation. Emphasizing the importance of implementing a uniform method of calculation, the trade ministry is working in collaboration with the participating corporations. According to the Guardian, some of the big name corporations involved include Sapporo, Lawson and Seven-Eleven.

Silver Tips And Eco-Prima Tea Goes Carbon Neutral

tea.jpgNew York regulars at Silver Tips Tearoom and buyers of Eco-Prima Tea are from now on purchasing products that are fully carbon neutral. Silver Tips, which sells over 150 kinds of teas online and runs a Tearoom in Tarrytown, signed a partnership with Carbonfund.org recently which completed its process of reducing its carbon footprint to zero.

The tea company is a brilliantly transparent example of how a regular business turns carbon neutral. The company, which runs a wholesale operation -Eco Prima Tea- since 1995 and opened a gourmet tea store four years later, has long been actively trying to reduce its carbon footprint.

Europe's Mandatory Carbon Footprint Labels Could Have Major Impact

Already there are reports that millions worth of imports from the EU have been affected as a result of carbon neutrality claims. Export potential is believed to further rise as a result of this decision because consumers around the globe have a keen interest in labeled products.

Supply Chain Companies Dread Potential Impact Of Emissions Legislation

suppl.jpgA recent annual survey into the carbon reduction efforts by suppliers has revealed that business leaders dread the potential impact of emissions legislation on their activities. The survey, carried out by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a transatlantic not for profit organization, covered responses of 144 supply companies to multinational corporations. Only 26% of the suppliers have actual plans in place to achieve greenhouse gas reductions. But more than double that number (58%) was tracking their emissions. Around 33% of all the surveyed suppliers has a dedicated board member in place dealing with climate change issues.
