How many times have you wished for a freak storm to come so you could get the day off school? Well, some kid in Devon, England has been wishing hard! Not only did they manage to get the day off school but landed the rest of the town a day off, too. Only they probably weren’t so pleased about it.

Midwest Floods: A Prayer for the Farmers and Everyone in Iowa

Our prayers are with everyone in Iowa and elsewhere in the US Midwest, as we read in the NYT: Towns on Mississippi Shore Up Levees.

The human and economic costs of the flooding in Iowa alone have already been devastating. Five people have died, nearly 40,000 people have been evacuated or displaced, and more than $1 billion worth of crops have been destroyed.

Five Reasons Why Environmentalists Aren't Blaming Global Warming For Recent Weather

In the aftermath of 500-year floods in America's heartland, the disappearance of tourist-beloved Lake Denton (WI) and a heat wave that delivered temperatures a full five degrees above previous records in New York state, the question has started circulating among bloggists: where are the environmentalists? Why is the media not seizing this opportunity to drive home the point that these severe weather events are exactly as predicted by Global Warming models? Well, we can think of five good reasons.

(1) I told you so?
One obvious explanation springs to mind: it's no fun saying "I told you so." But seriously, there are better reasons.
