Targus Eco Grove Sling Notebook Bag

It might look cooler then your typical backpack, but to carry a notebook I would prefer a messenger bag or a typical backpack. I also did not feel the bag was strong enough to withstand a short 4 mile bicycle ride, so I did not bring it along. PVC and nickel free with recyclable plastics are used in the EcoSmart Targus line and it will fit up to a 15.4-inch display.

Couronne Recycled Glass Products

Think about all the vases lying around each year from the flowers you send to your mother, girlfriend or secretary. There is probably tons of glass lying around doing nothing, so why not recycle it or purchase some recycled glass?

Couronne designs glassware, plates, jars and candle holders out of recycled glass. It’s not only eco-fabulous, but it saves the virgin sand, ash and limestone from being mined.

Northland Woolens Twice Baked Hat

Northland Woolens has come up with a great product. They are taking sweaters and other fabrics that would typically be disposed of and recycling them into very warm winter accessories like Hats, Mittens, Scarves, etc. They do make other products so be sure to check them out.

We received three products to review from Northland Woolens. Unfortunately as winter was ending I only had a chance to review one so
far. I will review the others this winter.

ReRecycle from Brand of the Free

I love my t-shirt collection and this one is high on the list of good shirts. It’s an organic cotton shirt with the recycling logo screened onto it, but with attention paid to the details of the logo. Inside the classic recycle logo contains many mini recycle logos. The green ink on black, Made In the USA, organic cotton is soft and fits like a medium should fit.

Splaff Belt

I really liked Zero Per Gallon’s recycled bike tire belt, but Splaff’s is even better. The Splaff belt looks more like a belt than a tire whereas the ZPG is basically an inner tube with Velcro. I am, in fact, wearing the ZPG belt while I write this review after a bike ride, but the Splaff belt is classier and more functional.

Act2 GreenSmart Notebook Sleeve

My MacBook has never been more eco-friendly inside a notebook sleeve made of 100% recycled materials. The sleeve hugs the 13-inch MacBook perfectly and keeps out unwanted damage, however, it is not the ideal choice for protection.

green notebook sleeve review

Both the internal and external fabrics are made of recycled plastic known as PET. The lightweight sleeve fits nicely into my Timbuk2 Hemp/PET bag and stays secure while traveling.

Nau Denim

Nau’s Loose But Not Slutty Jeans right off the bat have an office look. They are very casual with clean lines and no trendy holes or scrapes. Nau chooses their materials very carefully which can be seen in every piece of clothing they make. These jeans are made of organic cotton with raw denim produced in Turkey. The material is twice dyed with an indigo for the beautiful blue color saturation. Mike thinks the color is too dark, but for me, it is perfection. Without any tags to take away from the design of the jeans, there are no distractions and no snagging when putting a belt on. The natural, organic denim is stiff.

Timbuk2 Eco-friendly Bags

Timbuk2 has made amazing bags for years and this year they decided to step up the game and use some green materials. Now, I’m not going to lie, I have been a fan of Timbuk2 for many years. I actually own a laptop messenger and a gadget case (for my iPod) but when I saw they offer PET and hemp bags, I was more than excited!

Timbuk2 always has fun and unique bags, but they have a few distinctive features. Notably is the three-panel design on their messenger bags and their spiral logo.

Flip Flop Rug

My recycled car tire welcome mat had to be relocated to a new area to make room for the new, bright and squishy flip flop floor mat. The rugged black tire mat was getting boring to look at and made my condo entryway look stale. I opted to move it to another location and replace it with a brightly colored mat made of leftovers from a flip flop company. The remnants are arranged in a diamond pattern and are really cushiony and soft.

I like the colors and the feel both with and without shoes, but the pattern leaves much to be desired. I actually think the welcome mat would look even better in a random pattern or with one type of remnant.

Tarma Designs

When I first glanced at Tarma’s website I was pleased with what I saw. The designs seem very earthly and simplistic, just my style! Tarma designs are all very unique and spiritual. Their products are made from environmentally friendly materials like recycled 316 stainless steel, nylon webbing and recycled polyester.
