I love projects like this: a classic alpine barn-stable converted into a summer residence. In the summer, grass hay was stored in the ‘barn’ above, and the animals were stabled below. During the winter, of course, the place sat empty, but was built to withstand avalanches: stone walls are used for the stable, huge beams of wood are used for the barn, and the roof is covered with a layer of dry stone. The entire structure was dismantled and numbered, then restored and rebuilt incorporating the kitchen and bathroom.
