If its late summer, it must be time for architecture tours of europe. Flickr user Doctor Casino appears to be on such a tour and has posted some great and not typically seen photos of many of Corbus residential works. Villa Savoye above.

The price of this Jennifer Seigal designed modern modular house has been reduced to $175,000. Now I know that is still a lot of money for a one bedroom trailer sized house, and I am not sure of the details but I suspect it is actually is a HUD code mobile home and not a modular home. But it is in Venice for crying out loud. Does anybody know what the story is with this? Does it not include the lot? Is the neighborhood much worse than the name would suggest. Or is 175k still a lot of money for 1 bedroom in LA?
fine print: does not include land…hmm
I just went to see the show myself this past monday, and I put the best of the photos I took up on Flickr the next day. I tagged them and yesterday decided to see who else had visited and tagged their photos with “Home Delivery”. I was pleasantly surprised to see many other photos on Flickr. A great way to get a photo tour if you can’t make it to the show.

Japan Dome House Co., Ltd. - easy to assemble modular kit homes.
The prefabricated pieces, which each weigh about 175 lbs, can be carried by 2 or 3 people and assembled in a few hours. Once the shell is put together, coats of mortar and paint are applied for further protection from the elements.

Built in 1895 on a rock outcrop in Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay, the house was abandoned in the 1940’s until it was bought by Henry Wood in 1961. What a great story. I’d live there, for sure. Lotta work maintaining it, though. Read the article and see the slideshow in the NYT
